Position Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Dedicated technical resource for the end-user sales team to act as the primary source of information regarding design, products, application, installation, and operation of mechanical seals.

  • Act as the engineering liaison between the Flowserve North American factories, Engineering, Seal Quick Response Centers, Sales Engineers, and external customers.

  • As the technical resource and liaison, the Application Engineer is responsible for the coordination, support of product selection, support of seal support system selection, creation of proposals, status tracking, and completing the following items for Sales Engineers and external customers.

  • Seal selection recommendations for applications

  • Seal proposal designs/drawings for an application

  • Entry into the engineering design system (EIS record entry)

  • New seal support system design engineering

  • New seal design engineering

  • Commercial proposals for new applications

  • Technical/dimensional requests

  • Status of tracking

  • Providing information to the outside Sales Engineers, Application Engineers and End_Users

  • Collaborate with applied technical services team regarding more complex issues for external customers

  • Participate in evaluation of failed components to determine appropriate recommendation

  • Collaborate with QRC team members on execution of proposed work

  • Research key information to determine critical design information for customers such as appropriate equipment, configuration, process conditions, successful installed solutions, equipment modifications, industry standards, customer specifications, etc.

Position Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • A self-motivated candidate with mechanical seal and centrifugal pump background is preferred.

  • Ideal candidate will have mechanical aptitude and a strong history in rotating equipment and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

  • Thorough knowledge of pump hydraulics and design as well as mechanical seal application in rotating equipment is required.

  • Ability to penetrate and work effectively within multiple customer levels including; engineering, production, operations, procurement, and maintenance is ideal

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent experience is required.

  • 4 or 5 years of experience in rotating equipment sales or similar experience is preferred.

  • Excellent verbal/written communications skills, inter-personal skills, and strong PC experience is required

  • Detail oriented to ensure all aspects of the seal application are being considered

  • Able to multi-task and work well with changing priorities
