Position Description

Location: Edmonton or surrounding area AB Travel: 20% - 50% (drive to client sites)

This position will be responsible to provide effective Sales Representation of Flowserve to assure attainment of Sales Objectives. Primary responsibility is for all control valve sales for Western Canada, the main job will be supporting our Edmonton QRC and our control valve rep CGIS to cultivate and grow business. Position is also responsible for satellite engineering support centers in area. Focus is on Upgrades, Parts, Repairs, starts with new valve & new project sales, and Service and keeping the customer satisfied with Flowserve. The position requires a well-rounded sales person that has the ability to first manage rep sales people. Position is Accountable for all activities involving valves and owns this business.

  • Sales Quota: 10 Million

  • Territory: Western Canada

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree is preferred

  • Must have 5 - 10 years of experience in control valve sales or related equipment. Aftermarket sales are highly preferred.

  • Experience with pumps (centrifugal pumps or related) and experience with mechanical seals is an asset.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills.

  • Goal oriented with focus on customer service is required.

  • Act as a single point contact for assigned customers, coordinate FLS (Flowserve) support on initiatives, conduct jobs within guidelines established for pricing, contract review, order processing, while taking reasonable initiatives to institute OTP (On time Performance) to customer request date.

  • Proactive, self-starter with a hands-on approach to solving problems.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.

  • Strong technical background to include a working knowledge of valve selection and system design.

  • Able to work in a high pressure environment and manage multiple priorities

  • Experience in Oilsands facilities as Upgraders and associated units, Refineries, Chemical or with Power Plants is an advantage.

  • Actively participate in and provide input into the product development teams and support their initiatives.

  • Participate in accountability meetings as required, report key accountability metrics weekly to manager and operations.

  • Respond to voice and email requests within 24 hrs.

  • There will be 20% overnight traveling. Most of the traveling will be to client's sites on a regular basis within Alberta.

  • May have to travel to the US for training.

  • Be able to get a US Work permit.

  • Meet and/or exceed the sales level for the assigned territory and business

  • Meet and/or exceed bookings objectives for the territory.

  • Meet and/or exceed the sales level for the assigned territory for Repairs, Service, Parts and complete Machines

  • Meet customer needs by being a responsive liaison between the Company and customers on matters.

  • Assist in profitably meeting customer needs by being a responsive liaison between the Company and customers on matters relating to control valve repairs, upgrades, new unit applications control systems and spare parts.

  • Manage the proposal process and develop strategies to ensure we make the most competitive technical and commercial offerings.

  • Support Management in the settlement of warranty disputes and field problems.

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to grow the business profitably.

  • Maintain good relationships with customers and Company’s personnel to ensure continued Market Growth.

  • Routinely report activities to Management on all pertinent issues related to market changes through use of monthly forecast and other reports as may be directed.

  • Actively participate in and provide input into the product development teams and support their initiatives.

  • Communicate effectively internally with; engineering, customer service, and other personnel to ensure objectives are achieved.
