Position Description

As a direct report to the Director of Corporate Accounting, the Manager of Corporate Accounting is responsible for leading a team of 3 professional accountants to perform the accounting and reporting of complex accounting areas, the monthly GL close processes for areas of responsibility, as well as ensuring SOX control compliance. Specific responsibilities of the Corporate Accounting Manager include, but are not limited to:

· Manage and review work of staff. Mentor, Champion. Complete mid-year and annual performance reviews. Drive department goals and objectives through execution of effective processes and communication with team and management.

· Manage all areas of equity, including share-based compensation, as well as pensions, hedging, debt, debt, fixed assets, and other liabilities.

· Participate and support the monthly Corporate Accounting close process.

· Communicate with other functional areas and site locations

· Review all staff member duties and work product, ensuring tasks are performed accurately, completely, and timely, in accordance with company policy.

· Manage and review the preparation of the monthly mark-to-market journal entry for all Flowserve sites and its reconciliation to Hyperion, ensuring conformity to GAAP and Flowserve policies.

· Manage and review the preparation of the global cash, including restricted cash. Assist with securing Treasury review and site explanation for restricted cash.

· Manage, review and approve monthly journal entries (including top-side journals, if any), recurring journal entries, and account reconciliations, including the maintenance of supporting documentation.

· Manage, review and approve journal entries, supplemental data and other reporting related to external and internal debt, including any related hedge contracts.

· Complete tasks as required by auditors.

· Assist with Quarterly Audit Flux analysis as needed.

· Provide financial support and ad hoc analysis to departmental and senior management.

· Serve as the Corporate Accounting subject matter expert for the complex areas of accounting, along with team members, including areas such as share-based compensation, pension, foreign currency matters, debt, etc.

· Monitor, review and periodically self-test Corporate Accounting documented policies and procedures, including spreadsheet controls, for SOX compliance and gaps. Follow-up, develop and remediate controls as needed.

· Review and verify quarterly Corporate Financial Controls checklist prior to Director signoff.

· Manage, review and monitor monthly global pension expense.

· Manage, review, and provide technical accounting support for global pension, post-retirement and deferred compensation plans, including the Rabbi Trust.

· Manage and assist with the Financial Reporting function with financial data disclosures for pension and post-retirement, AOCI, equity, including EPS calculations and stock-based compensation.

· Manage and review the monthly accounting for equity and share-based compensation plans, including share data, ensuring conformity to GAAP.

· Manage, coordinate and assist the Financial Reporting and FP&A functions with financial data, including share data, for disclosures related to share-based compensation plans, equity and EPS.

· Manage and review the preparation of schedules, analysis and explanations related to share-based compensation plans for the Tax Department.

· Interact with outsourced SOX and internal audit as well as the external auditors.

· Manage and communicate the budget and forecast implications related to share-based compensation expense and pension expense.

· Manage and review the annual proxy data such as director fee payments and share-based compensation reporting.

· Cross-train with peer managers and provide coverage as needed.

· Assist with special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements

· Bachelors degree or international equivalent in Accounting required

· CPA required

· Previous supervisory or manager of people experience preferred

· High degree of knowledge related to GAAP

· Possess a high degree of technical accounting knowledge and willing to learn new technical accounting subjects/guidance.

· Minimum 5 to 7 years professional accounting experience, some Big 4 public accounting preferred

· Must be process and goal driven, customer oriented, results oriented, self-motivated

· Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

· Knowledge of Oracle or other ERP Software preferred

· Previous experience working with SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC)

· Experience with publicly-traded, global company required

· Excellent PC skills including Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook and Sharepoint

· Ability to work overtime


· Previous supervisory or manager of people experience preferred
