Position Description

The Raleigh Flow Control Operation is a primary supplier to the global Nuclear Power Industry and operates under close scrutiny of multiple regulatory authorities.

  • Meet the Site business and financial objectives of Quality, Delivery, Operating Income and Cash Flow; simultaneously meeting the needs of internal and external customers; operating within the guidelines and policies of the Flowserve organization

  • Oversee a staff of 12, providing leadership in operational execution, strategic planning and personnel development

  • Develop Suppliers to meet current and projected requirements utilizing both Site and Flowserve resources, processes and policies

  • Work across functional boundaries to close short term gaps and to collaborate on process development that delivers a seamless flow in achieving first time throughput

  • Develop and implement tools, techniques and process improvements that impact Quality, OTD and lead time of purchased parts, and that lead to simplified and improved purchasing processes

  • Manage the internal and external variables found in a manufacturing environment to deliver best cost on direct/indirect materials and services

  • Maintain accurate and timely Purchasing performance metrics

  • Embody the Flowserve Safety Culture through the Purchasing team and into the Supply

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science or mathematics or an MBA with an industrial concentration

  • 10 years of manufacturing supervisory experience; 5 years in a procurement role

  • Operations position in a regulated manufacturing industry

  • Operations position in a metals based manufacturing environment to include casting, forging, machining, fabrication and extensive NDE

  • Supply management of sources located in ‘Low Cost Regions’ with specific attention to the procurement of castings.

  • Communication via verbal, written, presentations, reports, e-mail; multi-level / multi-cultural

  • Negotiation skills and techniques in large value, extended duration, high risk situations

  • Analytical and decision making skills to identify and resolve multi-variable problems/issues

  • MS Office application skills at the intermediate level

  • Material flow and supply management in a mainstream MRP environment; Avante is the current operating system ·

  • Attention to detail, a continuous sense of urgency and the ability to operate outside one’s comfort zone are paramount

  • The commercial power industry is also served, so the continuous quest to eliminate waste and provide best cost opportunities are essential to meeting business objectives
