Position Description

This Sales Engineer position supports the Flow Control Operation and is responsible for introducing, promoting and selling critical service valves into the commercial and nuclear power generation market; to develop new customer accounts in order to achieve or exceed established sales goals; and introduce and promote other FCO products where applicable. All Sales Engineers are also responsible for profit and expense control for their assigned territory. You will be allowed to manage the territory as if it were your own business, with certain guidelines and monitoring. This is a Field Sales position with significant amounts of Sales Channel, End User and fellow Flowserve employee interaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Introduce, promote and sell the Flowserve critical service valves into the commercial and nuclear power generation market to achieve or exceed sales goals

  • Maintain existing accounts and penetrate new accounts by developing Flowserve’s service, pricing and product performance credibility

  • Prepare and submit all required reports and sales related paperwork accurately and on time

  • Support recruitment and management of distributors as needed to expand sales

  • To meet yearly bookings goal for the Raleigh product portfolio by providing accurate bookings forecasts

  • Coordinate quotation activity and provide input to applicable inside sales representative

  • Provide management with marketing data, product applications and any other information that may influence Flowserve’s competitive position

  • Communicate with sales management and fellow sales engineers on market changes and opportunities

  • Sales Engineers are expected to maintain a professional appearance and disposition at all times in performance of their duties on behalf of the company and would be expected to be in front of customers 4 out of 5 days per week

  • Sales Engineers are expected to develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Customer’s mechanical and chemical processes, as well as technical knowledge of Flowserve’s products and performance characteristics

Position Requirements

  • Up to 50% travel is required as the territory, at present, is Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma

  • Need to reside in one of these states, preferably the Gulf Coast, Houston area of Texas

  • Ability to work independently to achieve or exceed established goals with minimal direct supervision

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally to a broad audience

  • Strong organizational skills are critical as you are working independently

  • Computer capable with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and being competent in Avante and Oracle

Preferences

  • Outside sales a plus but inside sales experience will be considered

  • College degree or equivalent in a technical/engineering discipline or marketing/business management preferred

  • A working knowledge of the valve industry, commercial and nuclear is preferred

  • Previous outside sales experience is preferred but not required
