Flowserve is looking for an experienced repair mechanic to work on all processes related to disassembly and assembly of high energy pumps and decoking equipment. This is a first shift position, 6:00am to 2:30pm, at our air-conditioned, clean, well-organized Quick Response Center in West Chicago, IL.

  • Industrial Equipment Installation, commissioning and start up, and plant maintenance exposure would be an asset

  • Complete inspection reports to a high quality, highlighting any adverse running conditions that could impact pump reliability

  • NDT experience a plus

  • Must be willing to assist welders, machinists and others on the millwright team in the performance of their duties.

  • Forklift certification desirable

  • Must be flexible to work in all areas as workload requires.

Position Requirements

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in after-market repair and service of mechanical equipment, with specific experience in rotating pumps highly desired

  • Dismantle, clean, inspect, grinding, under filing, cleaning, sandblasting and assemble pumps and equipment following all safety requirements and meeting tight deadlines

  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments, such as Micrometers, Verniers, Bore Gauges, Pressure Gauges, Meters, Dial Indicators, Rulers and Depth Gauges

  • Must be able to operate dynamic balancing equipment to balance single and multistage pump rotating assemblies to API standards

  • Must have a personal set of mechanic tools and roll-around tool box (some tools provided)

  • Demonstrated track record of reliable, dependable work ethic with a personal commitment to quality workmanship

  • Show an attention to detail, a respect for processes & instructions customer-service, and be results-oriented mindset at all times

  • Standing for long times required, full range of movement required, frequent lifting with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required on short notice

  • Complete a final inspection on all parts, stamp heat codes and part numbers in both the shop and Field.

  • Adhere to all Safety Procedures & Policy. Complete all Pure Safety and other safety training as required.

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace through proper housekeeping, use tools and equipment safety and complying with Flowserve applicable Safety, Health, and Environment standards, policy, rules and procedures.

  • Work to achieve company production goals on time delivery objectives.

  • Basic computer skills - Word / Excel

Preferences

  • Able to work alone and troubleshoot mechanical issues

  • New and repaired pump assembly, instrumentation diagnostics, seal leak and hydrostatic testing

  • Experience in disassembly, inspection, re-assembly and testing of repaired pump products in a rapid response, "quick ship" environment.

  • Read and follow accurately all routers, instructions, checklists and engineering drawings or blueprints during all processes

  • Use torches and liquid nitrogen when appropriate for the disassembly process

  • Inspect pumps and equipment, checking dimensions of all critical components

  • Ensure components are clean and free from foreign material and replaces and repairs worn parts in pump assemblies

  • Assembles pumps to API standards.

  • Complete accurate, thorough inspection documentation, including photos and written descriptions of the wear and condition of components. Submit documentation for quotation.

  • Explain and discuss as needed the condition of all critical components of the pump or equipment

  • Collaborate with others, sharing information and resolving problems with others in the shop, supervisors, sales engineers, buyers, and planners.

  • Run balance machine to properly balance impellers and shaft

  • Self-verify workmanship. Inspect all components for critical fits and run-outs.

  • Complete accurate, thorough assembly documentation, including inspection records, photos, and customer-specific forms.

  • Paint, tag, and prep the pump for shipment to the customer.

  • Act in a way that that encourages teambuilding, decision-making, problem solving, and continuous improvements.

  • Make regular process improvement suggestions; implement improvements after approval from manager.

  • Be willing to take Drug & Alcohol tests regularity to be able to access client sites as needed

  • Be clean shaven for fit testing as needed
