Position Description

Operates electric-welding, acetylene-welding, MIG-welding, TIG-welding or other assigned welding apparatus to perform complex welding on designated parts, completed assemblies and other items, working on a broad range of corrosive resistant materials.

Position Requirements

  • Monitors quality of work throughout all stages of welding, making dimensional and visual checks.

  • Takes action to correct faults in work.

  • Makes simple set-ups of assigned welding equipment for designated production work, following detailed drawings and sketches, welding practices and procedures.

  • Takes initiative to plan standard work sequences and lays out work on parts and assemblies. Provides assistance to other welders as needed.

  • Provides assistance to industrial technicians and machinists as needed.

  • Maintains assigned equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Requests necessary maintenance to equipment as needed Operates hand grinding and chipping equipment on parts, as required.

  • Licensed / certified to operate forklift and other lift equipment.

  • 5 years previous experience in welding activities.

Preferences

  • Preference will be given to dual trade certification candidates that have certification as a millwright, mechanic or machinist.

  • Willing to work night shift, weekend shift and overtime as required

  • Able to interpret industry standards, technical drawings and manufacturing procedures

  • Able to work alone and troubleshoot mechanical issues

  • Plant maintenance exposure would be an asset

  • Industrial Equipment Installation, commissioning and start up background

  • Rigging experience is preferred

  • Familiar with good Construction practices

  • Basic computer skills - Word / Excel

  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record

  • Welding on pressure vessels.

  • Mechanical inclined with keen interest to diversify into the DCI process.

  • B-pressure welding, Tig/Mig-welding Upkeep of work space to provide safe and efficient environment Interact with the rest of the shop personnel.

  • Be punctual, accountable and responsible for your own decisions and actions.

  • Adhere to Flowserve ethics and code of conduct policies

  • Be presentable as a Flowserve representative.

  • Take ownership of duties and work flow
