Position Description:

The R&D Engineer is responsible for designing and acting as the technical expert for an IIoT product line as an embedded engineer. Main responsibility will be executing and owning firmware development and sustainment of the product line. Other responsibilities will pertain to product lifecycle management activities and ensuring a high quality and reliable product is always delivered.

The position is for an experienced electrical/electronic engineer with strengths in embedded microcontroller firmware development. The role will interface with domestic and global technology teams to develop industry leading sensor, control, and IIoT technology.

Position Requirements:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree (ABET accredited). Computer Science Degree will also be considered with applicable experience. Advanced degree is a plus.

  • Approximately 10 years of proven experience in an R&D or product development capacity. Five-year experience candidates having strong experience and credentials will be considered.

  • Ability to work within a dynamic environment while maintaining focus on critical tasks.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective team communication skills.

  • Relates well to business/market driven technology development.

  • Knowledgeable about version control and production release concepts as it relates to firmware and embedded electronic products.

  • Knowledgeable about technical project management such as phase-gate processes and participating in WBS creation.

  • Proven ability to develop professional technical documentation and communication materials.

  • Significant experience with embedded systems, particularly firmware development.

  • Ability to program using C programming language. Use of Assembly language is a plus.

  • Familiar with RISC architecture microcontrollers. Experience with either TI, Microchip, ST, or similar MCU/IC products.

  • Knows how to effectively utilize IDEs for developing microcontroller firmware. Specific experience with IDEs such as Keil, CCS, CrossWorks, and IAR is a plus.

  • Basic understanding of analog and digital circuit design.

  • Strong abilities designing and implementing board-level troubleshooting techniques as it relates to developing firmware.

  • Basic understanding of analog sensor devices and ADC processing requirements.

  • Knowledge of using circuit analysis tools such as SPICE.
