Position Description:

The Engineering director is responsible for managing and leading multiple teams of LPO and SPO engineers, drafters and technicians. This person also leads the engineering efforts in the VAC’s (Valve Automation Centers) located across the world and the automation of FLS or other products. This person owns and drives the design and owns the engineering support for manufacturing of FCO automation products. The engineering director leads the LPO efforts of the Limitorque electric and pneumatic actuators, control panels, PMV digital and analog positioners and switch box products. The director of Automation products engineering reports directly to the FCO Director of Engineering and is a matrix report to the VP of A&CS division. This leader must have excellent global communication skills to interface with multiple factories located globally across the world. They also must work seamlessly with the FCO sales , product management, product development, engineering and operations. Direct involvement with customers and end users will be necessary to develop strong customer relationships. The director must possess proven leadership capability and a strong technical background with electric and pneumatic actuation, digital protocols, control panel components as well as experience in the actuation of 3 rd party valve and other products. The director is responsible to retain and attract top talent, support training and development of engineers, and manage the performance of the automation products engineering teams globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with sales and marketing to set direction and strategy for the automation team.

  • Establish lead and direct the development plans for the technical teams.

  • Lead and manage the team of automation products engineering managers and provide direction for their engineering and operational needs and requirements

  • Manage and drive continual improvement of the automation products engineering teams.

  • Monitor key performance indicators and establish action plans to maintain or improve performance and be a part of a global team.

  • Optimize engineering capacity by running the RCCP process for the full automation products engineering team.

  • Work with the global engineering team as needed to drive global Flowserve goals inside the engineering teams.

  • Utilizes experience and knowledge of automation, actuation and controls to manage the timely execution of development initiatives in Mezzago, Lynchburg, India, China and Sweden production projects.

  • Oversee the development and training of engineers/drafters and technicians.

  • Foster an open learning environment for the Automation engineering team. (Mezzago, Lynchburg, India, China and Sweden)

  • Maintain and grow the site level integrated work with the MM Nagar and GTEC team in all automations projects.

  • Build and grow the relationships with GTEC and other automation sites.

  • Globally support the machine shop, production, supply chain, and assembly and test benches in the operations.

  • Support R&D projects for new products or manage improvements to existing products of the automation teams.

Position Requirements:

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree plus 15+ years of Electric and pneumatic actuation, control and equipment design, manufacturing, assembly and testing experience.

  • Technical team management experience (10+ years)

  • Understanding of DCS, SIS, PAM, process control including Foundation Fieldbus, HART and Profibus.

  • Experience with digital positioners and switch box products.

  • Must be self-starting and have motivational skills and a high sense of urgency to drive and execute production and development schedules.

  • Interpersonal skills are critical for optimum communication with internal and external customers including the Flowserve management team and employees.

  • Ability to produce professional engineering reports and presentations. They must also be able to deliver these presentations to management teams, industry committees, employees and customers

  • Excellent time management and organization skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and must be Fluent in English verbally as well as in written communication.

  • Ability to travel globally approximately 30-40% of the time.
