Position Description:

Position Description:

The Electrical Engineer will function as a member of the Applications Engineering department and will support, maintain, and develop Flowserve electrical and electronic products currently in production. The Electrical Engineer will handle various initiatives including: designing new products and features (hardware and software) for embedded and electrical controls, trouble-shooting and resolving hardware and software problems, developing sales demo tools, and providing engineering support for other departments, vendors, and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously.

  • Electronics design and development including analysis, schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, functional validation, verification, and agency certifications including EMC pre-compliance and compliance testing.

  • Embedded firmware and application software design and development.

  • Analysis and troubleshooting of power electronics (power supply and motor power drive), develop microcontroller-based designs (hardware and software), analog and digital I/O, and industrial network communications.

  • Maintain BOMs for all electronic printed circuit boards (PCB) currently in production. This includes resolving parts obsolescence, component analysis, component testing, and finding cost reductions.

  • Ensure quality and integrity of all products and components through thorough design validation and strict adherence to corporate policies and procedures.

  • Thoroughly documenting projects, designs, test procedures, test results, etc.

  • Contribute technical skills to support Engineer-to-Order processing for special customer requirements.

  • Ensure projects are executed to achieve cost and time goals.

  • Support production assembly by troubleshooting electrical-specific problems.

Position Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Electrical Engineering applicants must have strong software background. Computer Engineering and Computer Science applicants must have strong hardware background.

  • 0-5 years experience with electronic design or analysis. Compensation based on experience. Prior engineering and/or internship experience preferred.

  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.

  • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident

  • 0-15% occasional domestic or international travel.


  • Project management or team leading experience.

  • Knowledge industrial communications protocols Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, DeviceNet, Hart).

  • Knowledge of embedded communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, etc).

  • Experience with software development tools such as git, svn, Eclipse, Visual Studio, etc.

  • PCB schematic capture and layout skills – Altium Designer preferred.

  • Familiarity with circuit simulation tools – LTspice or similar.

  • Experience writing embedded software in C, C++.

  • Experience writing application software in C++, C#, Java, etc.

  • Familiarity with LabVIEW.

  • Knowledge of industrial control system platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc)
