Role Summary:

The Asset manager is an on-site application engineer that sees it all—design, manufacture, installation, and operation of our families of valves, actuators, and instruments at our customers’ sites. In this challenging position, the Asset Manager (AM) provides real-time technical support to our customers which located in Sulawesi, Indonesia and Wuhan, China. The AM is actively engaged in troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions on-site by providing recommendations for repairs, upgrades, and replacement equipment at customer facilities and at our nearby repair centers.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Should be capable of performing control valve and on/off valve troubleshooting and diagnostics with minimal support.

  • This engineer needs to be self-motivated and self-starting in a customer plant setting.

  • Should have broad engineering capabilities in valve application and selection.

  • Communicate the needs of customers to Flowserve and be the customers’ primary source of information regarding design, application, installation, operation, and maintenance of our valves, actuation, and instrumentation.

  • Act as liaison between customers and Flowserve’s sales, application and product engineers including customer service, and manufacturing.

  • Troubleshoot technical problems at our customer sites and in-house at our Flowserve Quick Response Repair Center and to coordinate the valve repairs, replacements, and new orders with respective Flowserve QRC

  • Should be able to use predictive maintenance tools and diagnostics to identify technical issues proactively and provide coordination and field support during major turnarounds and minor outages.

  • Should be able to expedite essential spare parts sourced from different QRCs

  • Should manage and assist in developing the Flowserve installed valve database and respective specifications.

  • Evaluate reports and data to support recommendations for improvement, replacement, or repair of equipment.

  • Present clear verbal and written technical explanations to customers, tailoring the content and style to the audience.

  • Help organize and ensure monthly “Bad Actor” meetings to maintain visibility on equipment performance.

  • Should be able to provide and share lessons learned for continuous improvement

  • Provide technical guidance about successful installation and operation of our products, ensuring that standardized installation procedures are followed.

  • Maintain data regarding customer equipment and parts inventories, responding with appropriate actions regarding inventory reduction and consolidation.

  • Maintain data in engineering systems; process engineering change notices; submit corrective action reports; and maintain current, accurate, organized files.

  • Help conduct technical training as needed for our customers.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree preferred.

  • 8-10 years relevant experience

  • In-plant operations experience highly desired.

  • Knowledge of the design, materials, and operational requirements of valves, actuation, instruments and especially and control valves is desired.

  • Must have a strong customer focus and project a positive corporate image.

  • Must be a team player, able to problem-solve and work constructively with customers and co-workers.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Chinese, English and basic Bahasa Indonesia is a plus.

  • Travelling to or station in Sulawesi, Indonesia is required to understanding customer on-sites situation.

  • Must be a well-organized self-starter who can accomplish goals and objectives in a timely manner and without close supervision.

  • Adaptable to various situations and circumstances with ability to recognize and develop methods to fill customer gaps.

  • Applies specific / detailed and complex knowledge gained through both training / education and depth of experience.

  • Specialized knowledge within area of technical expertise and sound knowledge of established policies and practice both for the organization and for area of expertise; may recommend new or modified policies
