The traffic analyst assists the traffic manager and other traffic personnel with daily shipping activities such as separating/prioritizing orders, preparing shipment documentation, data entry and updates to other departmental employees concerning shipments are among the tasks pertinent to the traffic/logistics function.
The traffic analyst must be aware of all paperwork required for each shipment and the rules for shipping to each country.
Must be able to prepare certificates of origin, bills of lading, and shipper export declarations.
Spends most of the day preparing paperwork for shipments. Whether orders are for domestic or international shipping, the paperwork can be complicated, depending on the product and destination.
Communicates with freight forwarders, outside warehousing, suppliers and transportation companies helping to coordinate the transportation of products to/from suppliers and customers.
Interacts with Sales, Planning, Purchasing, Accounting, Suppliers and Transportation providers.
Much of an analyst's time each day is spent communicating with others.
The position requires excellent skills in both oral and written communication with domestic and international partners, customers, and fellow employees.
Reports to the traffic manager.
A bachelors degree in business, supply chain, or relevant field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
The position requires at least three (3) years of experience in a Traffic/Logistics Coordinator or related function with exposure and management of all domestic and international paperwork.
It also requires at least one (1) year of experience performing clerical duties and data entry in a professional office setting, preferably in a manufacturing or logistics operation.
Must also have familiarity and ability to perform at an intermediate level in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and have a firm grasp of an ERP system.
Must also have familiarity with Transportation provider’s order/data entry systems.
A traffic analyst must be capable of working unsupervised in a fast-paced environment; must be detail-oriented, well-organized and able to multi-task.
Ability to work as a team player is essential
